What this directory is
Ontario Rent to Own Homes Directory is an independent directory and comparison resource. We also generate enquiries for local providers: when you ask to be matched, we pass your enquiry to providers relevant to your request and may receive a referral fee. Referral arrangements never affect scores or earned rankings.
It is built for people in Ontario who are weighing rent-to-own, lease-to-own, or other routes into home ownership and want to compare the businesses offering them. There are 238 businesses listed right now.
Who publishes it
The directory is published by Ontario Rent to Own Homes, an independent editorial directory covering Ontario since 2023. We write operator profiles, program comparisons, and buyer guides for the GTA, Hamilton, London, Oshawa, and Newmarket. Listings are built from public business information, and nobody pays to be included.
Rankings are maintained by Hannah Haddad, Editorial Director, who oversees the editorial side of the directory.
How listings get here
We pull public business data, such as name, location, and contact details. We also synthesise recent Google reviews into a short summary of what customers tend to say. We do not republish review text. Where you want to read the originals, we link out to Google.
How rankings are decided
Rankings are earned from a published rubric and data only. The full criteria are on the methodology page. Payment, sponsorship, and referral arrangements are not inputs.
What a listed business can change
A business can correct its own facts, such as an address, phone number, or the areas it serves. It can never edit its own score, sentiment summary, or ranking.
How sponsorship works
Some placements may be sponsored. When they appear, they are clearly labelled “Sponsored” and shown separately from the earned results. Sponsorship never changes the earned ranking of any business, sponsored or not.
How matching works
If you use the quote page to ask for a match, we send your enquiry to providers relevant to your request. The quote page explains this and the possibility of a referral fee. You are not required to use it to browse listings or read guides.
